Tired Of Waxing & Shaving? Here’s A Simple Ancient Method That Actually Works!

“Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin” – this phrase has a whole new meaning for us Indian women! Women from other parts of the world only have to wax their underarms and lower legs, but we need a monthly visit to the parlor to shape our eyebrows, get rid of facial hair, and wax our underarms, arms, and legs.

Enter pumice stone – a painless way to get rid of unwanted hair; yes, we don’t blame you for doubting it, we were skeptical too which is why we decided to give it a try.

How Does A Pumice Stone Remove Hair?

“A pumice stone has tiny holes on the surface & strands of hair get snagged in them and then pulled out”

A pumice stone is so light that is actually floats on water. This is because the entire stone has bubbles of air trapped within it, which gives it a rough and abrasive surface. It is this property of pumice that makes it effective in removing unwanted body hair.
As it rubs against hair, the rough surface of the pumice stone abrades the hair shaft, which is why the repeated use of a pumice stone makes body hair finer. Furthermore, thicker strands of hair get snagged in the tiny holes within the stone and get pulled out during the process.

We Put The Pumice Stone To The Test

“Pumice is an abrasive exfoliant & so applying pressure can damage the skin & even cause scarring”

I volunteered to test the pumice stone and felt quite hopeful when I stepped in for my shower that evening with my new pumice stone in hand. I ignored the instruction to not use pressure because I wanted quick results – WORST MISTAKE EVER! My skin was on fire when I woke up the next morning – so let that be a lesson to you, NEVER apply pressure when using a pumice stone. Here’s everything else I learnt…
Pumice Stone Pros

“A pumice stone is a painless & effective hair removal method”

I used the pumice stone on my arms, legs, and face for a total of 14 days and I can tell you that I’m now a pumice stone addict! Within just a few days of using the stone, the hair on my body was softer and there was so much less of it – I’m normally quite the ‘hairy Mary’! Using a pumice stone to remove hair is pretty painless, although you will feel a slight pricking sensation each time a strand of hair gets plucked out. And it’s not just your hair… the pumice stone also exfoliates your skin which us why my skin is now super soft!

Pumice Stone Cons:

“It can take between 2 weeks & a month for any visible changes”

The pumice stone had amazing results on the fine hair on my face, arms, and thighs but it didn’t do much for the thick black hair on my lower legs. Also, it does take a bit of time and effort to meticulously scrub yourself with your pumice stone each day. You need to be very patient because it will take between 2 weeks and a month to see any sort of change and it can take up to 3 months or more to see significant changes.

The pumice stone is great at getting rid of body hair as well as giving you perfectly exfoliated soft skin; my only regret is that I didn’t find out about it sooner!
